So... my first post on my uber new blog. More like my first post on a blog in about 3 years (xanga to be exact.) The name of the blog was inspired by my girlfriend’s baby sister, Zia. Whenever she catches a glimpse of something she likes, she whispers “… I like that…”
I'm not really sure as what to post for my first one here, other than to talk a little about myself, and I guess my blog’s “modus operandi,” if you will. I pretty much plan to post about anything; random thoughts and revelations, new techy doodads, games I’m currently playing, my girlfriend (who is actually www.christianadivine.blogspot.com, go check it out!), certain events of the day, kendo, inspiring moments ... etc. etc.
So, a bit about me:
I'm 25 years old and currently employed within the Workers' Comp Industry as a Claims Analyst. Pretty breezy job, plenty of slack & downtime, awesome boss, but it does occasionally get boring. I initially graduated from a registered nursing program in 2005, and am currently deciding whether or not to return to the profession.
I've been with my girlfriend, Christiana (aka Nani) for what will be the greatest 4 years of my life come this July. She has been with me through thick and thin, and literally has shaped me to be a better person. If it should be anyone, it was her who brought out the best in me. Nani is nothing short of a beautiful person, inside and out. Best of all, she is cute and witty (sometimes a bit blunt J). She is my soul mate, and our futures lie nowhere else but together. And man, can she hold her liquor!!
I am, for lack of a better word, a technophile. Anything that has the latest bells and whistles, bright LED lights and touch screens will catch my eye, and as a result, I will be all over it. I have become almost entirely dependent on my iPhone. It is my deus ex machina. Videogames play a very important role in my personal entertainment. I’ve become quite picky and critical about the games I’ve played of late. But that’s just because there are so many games launching on multiple platforms that it is essential for it to be worth the time spent. I’m into any genre, but I will always prefer an RPG over any other (yea, I’m a nerd.)
I am a sucker for anime dramas, though I do enjoy the generic, dragon ball-esque type anime occasionally. Lately though, I’ve been try to find animes that exude quality over quantity. For example, Naruto and Bleach’s constant fillers bore me (how many episodes do you need to kill off a character!? i.e. hokage). I prefer the short 14 episodes of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, or the 12 episodes of Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad (both AWESOME animes, and funny to boot).
I draw, freehand and Photoshop. I build mechas (gundams, etc.) and resin model kits. I’m a mild “health nut.” Going to the gym is both dreadful and inspiring. I love to curl up with a good book. I’m currently reading the final Harry Potter book (the Deathly Hallows), and yes, I’m an HP fanboy. I take Kendo classes. Dancing is a favorite pastime of mine. I can ride a bike with no handlebars. I listen to almost any genre of music, from Nobuo Uematsu to My Chemical to Kanye West to Jurassic Five to Daft Punk. Sushi and sake are vices of mine. Heineken rocks!, but so does chocolate cakeJ.
Well, I guess that pretty much sums up everything!
